Cable Loss on Wire RG-58 long 21 meters

Cable Loss on Wire RG-58 long 21 meters

I. Objective

In this experiment we are learning about input AC voltage to Spectrum Analyzer from Function Generation to check loss voltage in wire. How to know voltage that loses in wire in laboratory, Experiment we are input AC voltage to Spectrum Analyzer two times with the same voltage and frequency and compare its. First time connect Function Generation with Spectrum Analyzer directly for get referent and second time use wire RG-58 to connect between Function Generation and Spectrum Analyzer.

II. Equipment

For experiment in laboratory we need equipment:
  •  Function Generator
  • Spectrum Analyzer
  • Wire RG-58 (21 meter)

III. Methodology

We are input AC source 5 voltage to Spectrum Analyzer from Function Generator with difference frequency (1KHz , 10KHz, 30KHz, 100KHz, 200KHz, 300KHz, 700KHz, 1MHz, 5MHz, 20MHz, 15 MHz and 20MHz) two times.
  • First time we connected directly between Spectrum Analyzer and Function Generator and note all of voltage in deference frequency for make referent.
  • Second time we use RG-58 long 21 meter make router to connected Function Generator to Spectrum Analyzer to get voltage for compare with referent voltage and calculate voltage loss in wire.

IV. Result

Result gets from after we experiment two times (with wire RG-58 scale 21 meter and without wire RG-58) in laboratory:

V. Discussion

According to table result show on above
  • If frequency is bigger, voltage show on Spectrum Analyzer is bigger too.
  • If Attention is smaller, voltage show on Spectrum Analyzer is smaller too.
If we compare voltage in the same frequency between without wire RG-58 (referent) and use wire RG-58 scale 21 meter, we see voltage use wire RG-58 is bigger than voltage without wire RG-58. All of this results we can hypothesis, if we use wire RG-58 is longer and frequency higher the voltage will lose in wire more too.
